“Meditation is the only royal road to the attainment of freedom. It is a mysterious ladder which reaches from earth to heaven, from error to truth, from darkness to light, from pain to bliss, from restlessness to abiding peace, from ignorance to knowledge. From Mortality to Immortality”
~ Swami Sivananda.
Bliss divine
Today’s new age generation is full of advices, but rarely ready to sought them. Such a generation driven by a strong intellect and an even stronger need for ‘reason’, when advised to practice meditation, will rarely take the advice and benefit from it. The presence of mental dis-ease, such as depression, schizophrenia, anxiety has often been denied by this generation, who carry “this will not happen to me” mindset.

As the ‘reason’ given to do meditation does not often fits a person’s preconceived ideas about it, people often consider it to be difficult, hard and one which needs a lot of time to practice. But, the irony of is that, the aspects of the mind that meditation helps improve, lies beyond anything which can be explained by reason. And hence the loop seems to continue.
Along with such a mindset this generation also views the use of time as a ‘means to an end’, with the end being ‘to make more money’ rather than ‘live a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle’. Hence with a limited mindset, limited perspectives about mental well-being and awareness about the means to improve, this generation is suffering with stress and anxiety, depression, lack of motivation, etc.
However, one good thing that has come out of the last two years is that people have started recognizing that mental disorders can lead to mental and physical illness that can cause physical and mental changes. So, in this blog, though meditation is a very huge subject, we will try to bring out in simpler terms the magic of meditation, its benefits and try to explain in simpler terms that meditation is not hard or difficult but rather something which you enjoy. A short period of meditation can bring rich dividends that not only enhances your physical body but also helps you heal in your mind and spirit. We hope this blog helps you to clear doubts and myths about meditation.

What is meditation?
Meditation is a practice by which we slowly and gradually learn to observe our mind, thoughts, feelings, senses, and experiences. We should not forget that even though the material world is extremely important, so is our spiritual world. We all know that the animal world also has its own mind and intellect, but what makes us different from them is that we have the capacity to integrate and develop ourselves through our conscious effort, both in mind-consciousness as well as our intellect. Its specific purpose is cultivating control on our thoughts to discover the infinite well of wisdom that lies within each of us.
Churning thoughts create a vacillating mind; which with meditation, slowly and gradually, comes under control of a higher discriminating intellect. The clarity and brilliance of the individuals own intellect then begins to shine higher than before. Such wonderful change then leads to a fuller personality, and a healthy positive mind set over time, and it simply begins with one small step towards meditating.
Since meditation is a practice, it does involve setting aside a regular time and place. See some people are a pleasure to be with and we like to share or be with them and then there are those who are negative and depressed and it seems that they are drawing our energy out of us When we can communicate and perceive our thoughts or this prana (life giving energy) to a higher degree of frequency those are the individuals we call as psychics or having great intuitive abilities.
“Our physical, mental, intellectual and spiritual personalities must be blended into one harmonious whole. Meditation is the technique for achieving this harmony. It is the highest spiritual discipline. Through meditation we come to experience peace within ourselves. Internecine wars between desires end. Conflicts between duties no longer torment us. The mind is able to view life as a whole.
~ Swami Chinmayananda.
Power of thought
Every person’s thought has a power behind it, irrespective of whether it is a good, evil, bad or pure thought. The reason is because every thought contains a certain kind of prana. Prana is known in Vedas as a ‘life giving force’. This energy is constantly transmitted and received by every individual, irrespective of whether we are aware of it or not. In layman’s terms we call these thoughts.

Every individual projects a different vibration, hence we find some people a joy and a pleasure to be with, whereas others who are negative or depressed give us an experience of exhaustion or drawing our energy out of us.
This is what we need to be aware of that we constantly transmit and receive energy. No one is spared from this.
Those individuals who can communicate and perceive their thoughts or this Prana (life giving energy) to a higher degree, are called as psychics or people who have great intuitive abilities.
Considering that we all have thoughts, the questions we need to ask ourselves are:
What are thoughts?
What energies do our thoughts have?
Is our thought energy life giving, or are we drawing on others energy leaving them drained and exhausted?
Every thought has weight, shape, size, form, color quality and power. If you are an experienced meditator, then through your inner eye you will be able to see the aura, shape, weight of this thought energy. To give an example, a good spiritual thought will have the color yellow. The thought with anger will have the color of dark red usually that of blood. From this we can say that thought is like an object. Hence it is possible to give a powerful thought to someone and take it back and vice versa.
Every individual creates a world of virtue and vice, pleasure or pain out of his/her own imagination. How we emit the above-mentioned qualities, belongs to the attitude of our mind. Through this we can clearly state that thoughts control our lives, mold our characters, shape our destiny and affect other people.
Its right here that meditation is the path to accept and understand the potentiality contained in the power of thought. Meditation takes you gently on the path of self-realization and is the first step towards your spiritual growth. This power or energy is within each person, and every person can tap into it, if he becomes aware that it is available. Once this force of energy is recognized it inspires, encourages, reinforces and gives strength to those who seek to grow in a more positive direction. If every individual realizes the potentiality behind meditation, it would truly be a great step forward for all of humanity. Unfortunately, there are many who are unaware of this resource or have misconceptions about it.

A person who meditates shows positive change, he can turn out more work in less time, lives in internal peace and harmony, and his/her actions come from purity. When individuals come in contact with people who are on a higher frequency of meditation, they benefit by getting uplifted; they find strength, encouragement and inspiration to do actions that they would not otherwise do on their own.
A word of caution here, do not be misled by promises of instant gratifying meditation miracles. Do be aware that it is a disciplined path. The goal is not difficult to attain and can be easily reached with determined effort. Hence determination is the first essential requirement for any kind of meditation.
Vedic mind meditation candles are energized through positive prayers and energy to support your individual growth and to assist you in your meditation; so that you benefit in discovering the positivity that lies in your own self.
~ As always with love and warm light
